Mental Health First Aid training
SRCF facilitated a two-day training session for representatives of refugee and migrant communities to provide first aid support to people with mental health problems.
The course aimed at:
increasing awareness of mental health
tackling discrimination and stigma
giving information on how to recognise and understand depression, anxiety and psychoses
providing care to help people in a situation of mental distress.
Anxiety, stress and self-confidence workshops
Objectives:
providing participants with creative ways to cope with stress and anxiety
understanding the stress of living in a foreign country and in a new culture
learning ways to enhance self-confidence in the face of difficult situations
SRCF encouraged the participation of women to the workshops, as they are particularly exposed to stress due to changes in family dynamics
The workshops used a new interactive and creative approach allowing participants to engage with each other in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere
Celebrating World Mental Health Day
SRCF in partnership with local agencies celebrates World Mental Health Day as an initiative to fight stigma and prejudice among refugee and migrant communities.
The day represented an opportunity for families and individuals to come together in a serene environment.
The celebration ended with a performance by Tradicion Andina & Anata, engaging the public in traditional Bolivian dances.
